About Susan Elaine Evans

Susan Elaine Evans was unexpectedly called home on November 28, 2025, at the age of 72. Though her departure was sudden, her life was full of love, laughter, faith, and purpose.

Susie was born on April 6, 1953, in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was welcomed into a loving home and where her light first began to shine. She truly was a woman of beauty, with the rare gift of making everyone she met feel genuinely loved and appreciated through her famous hugs and heartfelt service. Susie had a way of lifting others and leaving them better than she found them.

She found great joy in homemaking, baking, sewing, shopping, and most of all in being with her family. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and open arms, where everyone felt welcome and loved.

She is survived by her eternal sweetheart of nearly 52 years, Richard E. Evans Jr.; her children, Richard E. Evans III (Kathleen), Natalie (Christian) Hayes, Clayton (Annie) Evans, and Amey (Seth) Aiono; and her fifteen cherished grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Virginia Stewart Radcliff; her brothers, Floyd (Linda) Stewart and Greg (Connie) Stewart; her sisters, Nona (Brent) Sawyer and Jeanne (Michael) Hansen; and her half-sisters, Susie Bonney, Sharon Bronner, Judy Mullins, and Kim Cole. Her legacy of love and service will continue through all who were blessed to know her.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297.

Celebratory services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 21320 South Greenfield Road, Gilbert, AZ 85298.

Dear Rick, We are overwhelmingly saddened by Susie’s sudden passing. We love her and our friendship with the two of you. You so lovingly welcome our son and his family to your backyard during Covid when city parks were all shut down. We have fun memories of spending time on the trampoline and swingset and with the animals with our two grandsons and daughter-in-law. We so enjoyed our dinners together, though we wish we had more to come. Our heart breaks for you as you will miss your lighthearted, loving Susie. I am deeply saddened to hear of Suzie’s passing. She was a kind and friendly light to everyone she met, especially to me in our work together in Maricopa County Farm Bureau. So sad to hear this news. Susie always had an encouraging word for me. She always gave big hugs and made you feel loved by her. We always enjoyed seeing her at Farm Bureau meetings with her ready smile and kind words. She often talked to me about her kids and grandkids. They were her heart for sure. We are devastated to hear of the passing of our dear friend. So sudden. Susie has always had a special place in our heart from the moment we met you at the Farm Bureau. We had such fun attending meetings and conventions together. To know Susie is to love her. She brightens every room she walks in to. She makes everyone feel like they are the most important person in the world. She loves everyone unconditionally and her light stays with you. So glad we got to see you recently. Susie, “my Susie”. When we were together we were totally connected. She is my half sister, but to us we were just sisters. We only had the past six years knowing each other, but from the first meeting we knew we were sisters. Our times together were filled with laughter. Our conversations on the phone always ended with love. Funny are the similarities even when you weren’t raised together. In celebrating our youngest sister’s birthday, Susie brought a German Chocolate cake When she presented it to Sharon, we were shocked. Unknown to Susie, this cake was always the celebration cake growing up. Susie and I had many similarities. Meeting for lunch one afternoon, I walked in wearing the same blouse as she had on. Not surprising, but seemed a bit funny to another customer. As he walked by he commented “you two on the same bowling team?”. Love with a lot of laughter is how I will remember my sister. Susie’s love for her family could not be measured. They were her everything, but there was never a limit to her giving. All who knew her would say this to be true. No matter the situation Susie’s words would be “how can I help”…… forever in my heart!

We found out about Susie on Friday afternoon. I didn’t know that I’d be able to write this. She means so much to me. I knew at any moment she was there for me. She helped me make it through a dark time in my life. I’m so grateful for her. She was always such a good example to me. I love each and everyone in the Evan family. We so love and cherish all the many memories we have of being with Rick and Susie. Rick was Gary’s first home teacher and friend when he moved into our ward.
