A Life Remembered

Obituary

Stephen “Steve” Travis Miller, 51, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away at home on October 1, 2026, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 3, 1975, in Phoenix, Arizona, Steve was born to Robert Magallanez and Debbie Fields and raised by his adoptive parents, Randy and Juanita Miller. He spent his early childhood in Eastern Kentucky before returning to Arizona at age 12, later graduating from Red Mountain High School.

At age 21, Steve married his lifelong best friend and the love of his life, Rachel. Together, they raised three children, building a life filled with music, laughter, and deep roots in both Chandler, Arizona, and Idaho, before recently returning to Mesa.

Known for his hardworking nature and a "heart of diamonds," Steve spent his career in automotive management, notably at Mac’s Auto Repair in Chandler, where colleagues and customers became family. To those who loved him, Steve was "half rock

star, half stuntman"—a vibrant musician, a passionate Chicago Bears fan, a collector of vinyl and Jordans, and the ultimate neighbor. He lived by a beautiful rhythm: mornings started with music, afternoons were spent fixing cars, being boss, and evenings strictly belonged to his family, especially his treasured Sunday barbecues.

Steve is survived by his beloved Rachel; his children, Obregailla & husband (Benny), his grandchildren, Maddox and Millie; sons Brenden and Gavin; and Rachel-Marie; his parents, Randy and Juanita Miller; his birth mother, Debbie Fields; his siblings, Tanya, Heather, Kevin, and two sisters through Debbie; and his closest friends, Brian Poole, Marty Martinez, and Rudy Crespin. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Squishy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father-in-law, his Aunt Karen; his cousin, Zavier; and his beloved dog, Bling. Steve taught his family to turn stumbles into laughs, to show up for family by blood and choice, and to always say "I love you" like a fact. To not fight and get along. He will be deeply missed, but his music plays on. “Once a Bear, always a Bear.”
