About Romero Anthony Hernandez

Romero Anthony Hernandez, 22, of Chandler, Arizona, was called home on August 27, 2026.

Born on July 9, 2004, Romero believed he had been placed on this earth for a bigger purpose. He lived with a remarkable sense of possibility—dreaming boldly and loving deeply. Although his life was far too short, it was full of love, laughter, adventure and hope.

Romero had a light and happy spirit. He was playful, effortlessly funny and never afraid to be silly, especially if it made the people around him laugh.

Beneath that joyful nature was an extraordinarily sweet and empathetic person. Romero was naturally uplifting, always going out of his way to encourage and comfort others.

Romero and his mother, Stephanie, shared an exceptionally close bond. He was deeply protective of her and loved his entire family fiercely. He had a gentle way of easing tension, softening difficult moments and reminding everyone to return to love.

By 22, Romero had already experienced much of the world, traveling to Paris, Dubai, Rome, Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence, Milan, and beyond. He met those experiences with gratitude and wonder. He loved the outdoors, cooking, health and fitness, music and dancing, and being surrounded by family.

Romero approached his future with an entrepreneurial spirit, exploring different paths and filling his life with big ideas and even bigger plans. Deeply spiritual, he carried an unwavering optimism about what the future held.

Romero leaves an imprint far greater than his years. He will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter and encouragement he gave so freely will remain with all who knew him.

Romero is survived by his mother, Stephanie A. Hernandez; his grandparents, Fred R. Hernandez, Brian and Juanita L. Chops; his aunts and uncles, Freddy J. Hernandez, Priscilla L. Hernandez, Andrew N. Hernandez and Destinie B. Chops; and his beloved Chihuahua, Daisy.

Honoring Your Loved Ones

Stephanie, in the short time I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Romero, Such a great young man. He cherished you, and you cherished him, he was all smiles and jokes! Lol. And I’m grateful to have gotten to know him. He told me about his hopes and wishes for you… how he wanted and planned to work hard so you eventually wouldn’t have to…. And nothing was going to detour him from that vision and or path. Your love for him shined through every day. And his love for you was/ is unrivaled. Please accept my condolences. And if ever you need. I’m only a phone call away. Rest easy young sir!! You will be missed, and carried forever in the hearts of the people you have impacted! 🙏🏽☝🏽

Stephanie, To my beautiful daughter: My grandson was the absolute light of my world, and watching you lose your precious son breaks my heart completely. Having walked this exact same path of losing a child, I know how brutally a mother’s heart can break, and I know the weight of the darkness you are sitting in right now. You do not have to be strong, and you never have to walk this road alone. Your siblings and I promise to hold your hand, wrap you in love, and carry you through this storm. We love you endlessly, and together as a family, we will keep Romero’s beautiful light shining forever!

Stephanie, There is nothing that we can say that will help the pain you are going through. I can only imagine how deeply your broken heart and soul must be hurting. You are not alone as everyone who knows and love's Romero will be with you as they grieve as well. Romero will always be a part of you. The love you have for him does not end with his life. It will remain in your memories, your heart, in the moments you shared, and in the person you will always carry in your heart. Romero will never be gone as he will now be watching over you as it’s his turn now to do so. I know there will be days when the grief feels unbearable, and there may be days when a memory brings a smile through your tears. Always keep talking to him out loud or in silence. As he will and does hear you. Just look for the smallest signs that he is listening to you. I hope you know that you are surrounded by people who care about you and who are willing to stand beside you through all the pain. The memories you shared bring you comfort, and may you find moments of peace even in the midst of your sorrow. Romero loves you more than you can imagine and will always be with you.

Romero, if love could bring you back, your mother’s love alone would bring you back every single day. Please rest in peace knowing that you were loved beyond what words could ever express. Thank you for all the joy, laughter, and love you selflessly gave to those around you. Your presence was a gift that will never be forgotten. May you forever be surrounded by that same joy, laughter, and love. 💙💙
