Obituary

Robert August Raymond Schley, age 90, of Shiocton, WI, entered into eternal life in Arizona on January 29, 2025.

Robert was born June 18, 1934, in Owatonna, MN, and graduated from Claremont High School in 1952. He married Karen Kopischke on May 16, 1959 in Bemidji, MN. He was a member of Mountain View Lutheran in Apache Junction, AZ.

Survivors include his wife, Karen, son, Dean (Jennifer) Schley of Eau Claire, WI, sister Violetta Schmoll, and sister -in-law Marlys Fenske. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his Venezuelan AFS son, Carlos Guerrero. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Schley, sisters-in-law, Joan Fenske, Betty Renstrom, Phyllis Schmidt, Joan Schley, and Peggy Schley. Brothers-in-law, LeRoy Renstrom, Ralph Schmidt, John Fenske, Thomas Michael Schmoll, brother Arvis Schley, and parents Ervin and Gertrude Schley.

There will be an inurnment at a later date in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN.

Dear Mom, Dean and Jenn, Though I have been deeply saddened by the news of Dad’s passing away, I would like to take a moment to celebrate his life and remember the most emotional years of my life, 1977 and 1978. Then, You embraced this venezuelan boy with open arms as another son in your lovely home, a family with high moral values and deep spiritual beliefs that made me feel loved and accepted right away. And even if we had just a few opportunities to be together again over the years, you have remained always in my heart as my real family, way beyond blood ties. Dad became my new guiding figure as he was handed off the baton from my own father Gonzalo, who died earlier that year. To be always your best version and to embrace faith without restrains were only two of his many life lessons. His sense of humor was definitely something of his own generation, kind of hard to get it at first but very meaningful once I finally got it. So was his scope on life, a teaching that remained in me to this date and have guided me in the building of my own family. I remain loving you as my own father. Now rest in peace in the comforting knowledge that we will all meet again in the presence of our Lord. Thank you Dad Carlos
