A Life Remembered

Obituary

Dick Parke of Gilbert, Arizona, age 78, passed away on May 7, 2026. He was born on July 10,1947 to Harry and Jean (Beat) Parke in Toledo, Ohio. Dick graduated from Sylvania High School in 1965 and headed to Ohio University. Although he struggled as a student there, he succeeded in making lifelong friends. He transferred to the University of Toledo and joined Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Through his pledge brother, Bill Borer, he met Bernita (Berni) Borer, his wife of 55 years.

Dick shared his love of college sports with his children. Football games at Michigan Stadium and the Glass Bowl were frequent family events. He and Berni traveled often and he especially enjoyed their visits to national parks. He loved to play the slots, and he was on a winning streak for 2026.

In addition to Berni, he is survived by his children: Matt (Terri) Parke and Becky (Shawn) Nemmers, grandchildren: Jack Parke, Luke Parke (Maddie Glogas), Haley Nemmers, Isaac Nemmers, sister: Cathie Parke, in-laws: Jim Borer, Bill (Ann) Borer, Bonnie (Bob) Krall, Bev (Dave) Goodwillie and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and placement will be held in the fall.

Dick and I have been good friends since working together on the 1965 SHS yearbook. We have kept in touch over the miles and over the years. We were so happy to be with him and Berni at the 60th reunion last September. He will be greatly missed by us all.

I am so sorry to hear about Dicks passing. We were neighbors and grew up together. I always enjoyed his humor and engaging personality. I will miss him.
