About Oleta Lugene McGee

Oleta L. McGee, 97 years old, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2022. She led a very happy and active life, filled with family and friends. She made her choice in faith to serve the Lord. Now her tests and and trials are past. Oleta was preceded in death by her husband Elvern, her parents, Jack and Mima Gill, two brothers Clyde and Mert Gill, and sister Viola Schmerfeld. She is survived by her three children Ron (Karen) McGee, Cheryl Murin, and Glenda (Doug) McCullough. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kimberly (Jon), Rod (Tammy), Tonya, Connor, Collin, Scott (Sandy), Heather (Kevin), Garrett (Ivy), Bree (Kevin), and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10 AM at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 East Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, AZ 85297. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

No one made chicken pot pie like Oleta! I think the love in her heart automatically went into the ingredients!! She shared that love, and the chicken pot pie, regularly when I was taking care of Julie, my sis…and it not only nourished our bodies it was food for our souls. Oleta was a very precious and loving soul…memories of her are a sweet smelling savor that will last lifetimes. Thanks Cheryl and Glenda for sharing “Mom” with us! Love & hugs, Kris

Chery & Glenda; Our sincere sympathy in the loss of your kind, caring & lovely mother who we so enjoyed when coming to Mesa & being with her & you at Doug McMurrys Sunday am Mtg. The last couple of Sunday am mtgs. recently were a memorial of her as others mentioned her steadiness & encouragement she offered with her words & her sweet smile. Glad she did not have to suffer any longer & now enjoying the benefits of submitting her life to God. Wonderful to think too of your hospitality extended to us in the past & fellowship enjoyed in your home Cheryl.
