Remembering Michael Alan Murillo

July 30, 1955 – May 3, 2026

Michael Alan Murillo, a resident of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2026. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 30th, 1955. Michael was the only boy and oldest of 4 children — daughters Kathleen, Sharon, and Leslie — for Robert and Mary. Later in life, he gained 3 stepbrothers, Jerry, Kenny, and David, when his mom married his stepdad, Dale Gibbs.

Some of Michael’s favorite pastimes were listening to music, cooking amazingly delicious food, and dancing. When his kids were younger, he enjoyed camping, boating, and tubing down the river. Michael also enjoyed any opportunity to get together with extended family and just reminisce about the old days (especially since, as they tend to do, the opportunities became fewer and farther between over the years), even more so when his health began to decline.

Michael is survived by his only son, Robert (wife Leslie), daughters Sarah (husband Nick) and Natalie, and his 5 grandchildren: Isaac, Tristen, Jordan, Jaxon, and Skylar, goddaughters and nieces Melissa (husband Joe) and Amy, his sisters Sharon (husband Gary), Kathleen (husband Steve), and Leslie (husband Gerald), and his stepbrothers Jerry, Kenny, and David. Not to mention countless cousins that he had such fond memories of, and his many nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his best friend and uncle Johnny, his beloved grandmother Rita, his father Robert, his mother Mary, and his stepdad, Dale Gibbs.

Michael’s wishes are to be cremated with ashes spread in New Mexico.

I have such fond memories of Uncle Mike. He was someone I looked up to when I was younger trying to figure my life out and he was always so nice and funny. I remember how much he loved jazz music. I will miss him. Rest in peace uncle Mike❤️‍🩹

I am Michael Murillo's youngest sister.Michael was the light of my life.He brought so much joy, Happiness, and Laughter to my life. He was taken from us way too early. If i could have it all to do over again i know it would be just as special as it was. Michael brought so much joy and happiness to a lot of people. If you got the pleasure of knowing him you'd also be shaking your head yes cause that was just the kind of person he was.i know he is in the lords hands now just where he's meant to be. Now he can rest in peace with No more pain. Please don't just read this but read it and say a prayer for him i would so appreciate it. Mike was a lot to a lot of people but to me he was a Big piece of my Heart and I hope you feel the same way. I will miss you so much Big Brother and yes I will shed a lot of tears. But i'm Grateful he's not suffering anymore. THANK YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS YOU.
