Obituary
On October 19, 1962 , Marlene was united in marriage to Jim Gloss at the Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa.
In 1976, Marlene, along with Jim and their family, moved to Lyons, Kansas where she worked as a service representative for the USDA Farm Service Agency, retiring in 1999.
Marlene and Jim enjoyed 13 years of the fulltime RV lifestyle before settling in Apache Junction, AZ. She also delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and seemed to be a special friend to all who knew her.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Jennie Van Der Sloot, a grandson, Dustin Maxwell, and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, a son, Mike (Alida), daughter, Michele (Johnny) Martinez and another son, Marc (Becky). Also, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and her brother, Ken (Gale).
Cremation has taken place at A Wise Choice in Mesa, AZ. There will be a memorial service in Lyons, KS at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Bell and Star Fund, P. O. Box 808, Lyons, KS 67554
