MARJORIE JOAN “JO” GREGORY SELF

7 April 1937 – 23 February 2022

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want:
smile,
open your eyes,
love
and go on.

Jo Self passed away peacefully on the 23rd of February at the Friendship Square Memory Care Facility in Mesa, Arizona.

Jo was born in Boulder, Colorado to Russel and Bernice Gregory on 7 April 1937. She graduated from Boulder High School and completed her college degree at Mesa Community College in Arizona. She married the late Chuck Self (USAF retired) in 1955 and traveled the world with him.

Her parents, and siblings (Greg, Jeanne, Jim, Bill & Susie ) as well as her middle son Robb have all predeceased her. She is survived by her children: Cindy (Mark), Ric (Tina), Sharon (Ken) & Rory (Karen) along with 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A small celebration of life will be held on 9 April. Graveside services will be conducted this summer in Boulder, Colorado – date to be determined.
