Lynda Barta Goodell

I am very sorry to hear about Linda-passing,she was a Wonder full Person, I miss her

Sorry to hear of this. Such a great family. Miss you all.

I am also a first cousin of Lynda’s. Her father and my father are brothers. We are all saddened by her passing. Love and prayers to all. Shirley Barta and her kids: Jackie, Dianne, Richard, Bob, Cynthia, Susan and Angela.

I am also a first cousin to Lynda. My dad Richard is Charlie’s (Lynda’s dad) younger brother. Our family was at Charlie’s house in Cedar Rapids nearly every Sunday to see Grandma Barta. Great fun with our cousins. Deepest sympathies from Shirley Barta and her kids – Jackie, Dianne, Richard, Bob, Cindy, Susan, Angela.

Dear Goodell Family, I just wanted to write and let you know that I am praying for you all and for Lynda as she makes her way to her heavenly homeland. I am Emily (Barta) Dvorak’s daughter, Carol, who was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, so I am a cousin of Lynda’s. I always enjoyed it when she would come back to visit her family and friends in Cedar Rapids. She was a fun and loving person. May you be comforted by all the prayers and love that are coming your way. I’m sorry that the Virus will probably delay a church funeral. Blessings to each one of you, Sr. Carol. (PS in case you didn’t know, I am a Cistercian (contemplative) nun now living at Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey in Dubuque, IA and 5 years older than Lynda when she died. Nan Barta sent me this email notification.)

She is a great and loving mother, grandma, aunt,sister and saint! She will be missed.

One of the many things about Lynda was her free spirit. When I met her she shared with me how she loved to dance for the Lord in her house just her and Jesus. I never forgot this. It made a big impression on me. Her love for our Savior was evident to anyone who met her. She’ll dancing with Him and Bill now in person!

I remember Lynda when she lived in the White Mountains of Arizona. To me, she was such a wonderfully spiritual person who was always smiling and full of joy. I admired her relationship with God, which she enhanced by fasting and praying often; once (that I know of) she fasted for 40 days! That is something I’ve remembered as amazing and have often recalled when I think of Lynda…I know she is having the time of her life in Heaven today..!

Your mom & I grew up in the same neighborhood. She always had a smile and enjoyed her life. My deepest sympathy to you all. May the sweet memories of her give you peace.

I am very sorry for your loss. She is at peace now and out of pain. My prayers are with you.

Thinking back about the times I had with Linda what comes to mind is that I never heard her say a bad word about anyone or complain about anything. She was always so genuine and pleasant. I am thankful for knowing and having had her for a friend. God bless her beautiful daughters. Love, Arthene

What a sweet, beautiful and loving soul. No doubt she is dancing! Hugs from Mom and I. Although, it is often difficult for her to speak on the phone, Mom continually asks how Lynda and the girls are doing. My favorite memory of Aunt Lynda was one of her trips home to Cedar Rapids when she lived in New York. I hadn’t been to New York yet at the time and I wanted to hear all the stories. She sat and told me story after story after story. When I finally made it to New York, I made a point to go to several of the places in her story. It was a great trip! Love to all of you from Mom, Mike and I. Aunt Lynda, you are one of a kind! XO
