About Laurie-Anna Doty Coffman McRae

In Loving Memory of Laurie-Anna Doty Coffman McRae

Laurie-Anna Doty Coffman McRae, age 71, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on July 11, 2026, due to natural causes. Born on February 4,1955, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Ward and Patricia Coffman, Laurie lived a life defined by faith, compassion, service, and unwavering love for her family.

Laurie earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Arizona State University and dedicated her professional life to serving children and families as a school social worker. Her work reflected the kindness and empathy that naturally guided every aspect of her life. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel heard, valued, and loved.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Laurie served in many callings throughout the years, but her heart was especially drawn to the youth. She found great joy in serving in Young Women, where she mentored, encouraged, and loved countless young women who were blessed by her example and testimony.

Laurie believed that family was life's greatest blessing. She loved her children with all her heart, and nothing brought her greater happiness than being "Purple Grandma." Her eight grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, support their dreams, and create lasting memories with them. Her greatest legacy is the love she poured into her family, whose lives are forever richer because of her devotion.

She also found joy in researching family history and ancestry, preserving stories and connections for future generations. Whether cheering passionately for the Ohio State Buckeyes or enjoying football season with family and friends, Laurie embraced life's simple pleasures with enthusiasm and a joyful spirit.

Laurie is survived by her children, Stewart McRae (Robyn), Christopher McRae (Valerie), and Jennifer Sherwood (Trever); her beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crowther (Kaden), Hailey McRae, Ashley Hartvigsen (Dax), Addison McRae, Bristol McRae, Mason Sherwood, Scarlett Sherwood, and Victoria Sherwood; and her brother, Ward Coffman III.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Heather; her parents, Ward and Patricia Coffman; and her brother, Gwynn Coffman.

Though Laurie will be deeply missed, those who knew her will forever remember her gentle heart, steadfast faith, generous spirit, and the countless lives she touched through quiet acts of service and unconditional love. She taught by example that a life spent serving others is a life well lived.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1455 N. Harris, Mesa, Arizona 85203. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place afterward at Mesa Cemetery.
