About John Carroll Lynch
John C. Lynch of Mesa, Arizona, and a former longtime resident of Syracuse, New York, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was employed by Verizon for many years and was deeply respected for his character, work ethic, and devotion to those he loved.
John found joy in life's simple pleasures: time with family and friends, meaningful work, and service to his country. He was a gifted problem solver who loved to tinker, build, repair, and take on new challenges. Honesty, loyalty, and hard work guided him throughout his life.
A proud patriot, John was honored to serve with distinction in the United States Army. He also cherished the outdoors, particularly his time at the Cleveland Lake Club in New York's Adirondack Mountains. While he enjoyed many sports, hockey remained his favorite, and he was a devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
Known for his quick wit, warm smile, and easygoing nature, John brought laughter and steady support to those around him. Above all, he treasured his family. His beloved wife, Jo Ann, was his constant companion and source of strength throughout life's challenges. His son, Stephen, and daughter, Dawn McIlroy (David), brought him immense pride and joy.
John is also survived by his stepchildren, Todd Bartlett (Ronda), Diana Conner (Chris), and Kelly Dobek (John); and his grandchildren, Hunter, Parker, Devin, Taylor, Jordan, Jason, and Danielle.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember a man whose integrity, service, and love for family left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
