About Irene Elizabeth Hahn

Irene Elizabeth Hahn, 78, passed away overnight on 2/11/22 at her Sun City West home.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ernest, her children; Randy and Rusty (Kristy), her grandchildren; Rex (Matt), Cera (Bernie Boyle), Andriana, Tristan, Daemion and Analeah, her great grandchildren; Bernard, Nicole and Benjamin. She was also the Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt and cousin to dozens, upon dozens, upon dozens. Many of which she located because of her passion for genealogy and it’s because of that passion that many of those dozens, upon dozens, upon dozens now know how extended their family is. She was always one to accept everyone for who they are, no matter what, and everyone knew they could talk to mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, great Aunt, cousin about anything and they would instantly feel better for doing it. She also treated her friends the same way she treated her family. Whether old school chums from the MN State School for the Deaf, the SF Bay Area deaf community, PCDWBA, Modesto Deaf Club and community, or just someone she happened to meet at the Deaf Seniors Center of Mesa, everyone was welcomed. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

There WILL be an informal get together for her…. the date, time and location will be posted on Facebook (you know how she loved Facebook as means to keep in touch) as it’s the easiest way to let so many people know.

This is a terrible loss for the whole family. Irene was the great-granddaughter of my grandfather Edgar Clough’s twin brother, Edwin Clough. In other words, Irene and I were 2nd cousins 1X removed. We never met in person but we met online when Irene was searching for her great-grandfather’s identity, and I was able to provide some information. Irene was one of the most skilled and tireless genealogists I ever knew or heard of. Time and again, she provided answers to complicated questions about Clough family history. Thank you, Irene, for all you have done for our family. You are terribly missed. May you rest in peace.

Condolences to the Hahn family. I knew Irene through working with Ernie in the Pacific Coast Deaf Bowling Association. Irene was an very likable person. She will be missed by many.

Irene was an important part of my life while we worked as coeditors on a genealogy book, Wing Genealogy, Volume 78, Thankful Wing her descendants through five generations. Wing Family of America, 2021, 750 pp. I am glad she lived to see that book in print. My condolences to Ernie, Randy, Rusty and their extended family.

My beautiful Aunt Irene. Had a smile that could reach from coast to coast and the kind of heart that makes you feel loved, accepted, and cared for in just a moments time. She was always present in our moments of life, whether she was there physically or not. I am so thankful that a couple of weeks ago I had a breast cancer scare and I reached out to her as I knew she knew my father Robert Halls side of the family very well. We had a few very nice conversations and she reassured and comforted me until I got my negative result. She was truly an honorable woman and one that will be greatly missed. RIP Aunt Irene ILY. As she would always say! Hugs and Healing to Uncle Ernie, Randy, Rusty, Kristy and all of their children and childrens children. But really to all who has had the opportunity to be blessed by her unconditional love
