About Ian Andrew Brown
Ian Andrew Brown, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 19 on August 25, 2023. Our family and friends are deeply saddened that we will not enjoy Ian’s friendship, quick wit, laughter, and dimpled smile in this life. He has relief from the struggles of this world, and we have the promise that we will see him again.
Ian was born in Provo, Utah on April 9, 2004. Ian is survived by his father Drew, mother Shanne, brother Kyle, sisters Laurel and Renae, grandparents James and Terry Brown, Marc Bauder and Marilyn Bauder. He leaves behind many uncles, aunts, and cousins that love him very much.
As a child Ian was inseparable from his big brother Kyle. Two straws in one can of root beer inseparable. Ian had a happy childhood full of friends and activities. He enjoyed playing soccer and flag football and participating in Boy Scouts. There were many fun moments at Camp Geronimo and on backpacking trips. He especially loved to play Nerf wars in our backyard with friends during which they built obstacles with random objects found in the yard. He was a bright and talkative student and he loved to get everyone laughing. Ian had a good group of friends that had lots of fun together, whether playing Fort Night on the computer or hanging out in person playing 007. Special family memories during the Covid pandemic include, playing sardines and laser tag in the backyard at night, working out with Dad in the “flashlight gym” (a weight bench set up in the backyard), and lots of trips to the lake in our ski boat. Ian was the best wakeboarder in our family and impressed us with his jumps and tricks. Another fun family tradition was to drive way out in the middle of nowhere and watch meteor showers while sipping hot cocoa. In school, Ian showed talent for writing. He received the ASU Dean’s Award when he graduated from Marcos de Niza High School in 2022. He was accepted to ASU Business Technology program. His dream job was to work for the YouTube celebrity, Mr. Beast. He had an entrepreneurial mind and was always trying to convince his parents to maximize their income. When you are missing Ian, remember him by eating some of his favorite foods such as tortilla chips with nacho cheese sauce, Mike and Ike candy, or a hamburger from The Habit Burger Grill or In-N-Out Burger with a vanilla shake.
When our dog, Olly, joined our family in 2021 she changed our lives. She was a source of joy and comfort to Ian. For those who would like to donate to a cause that helps bring pets to other families please consider donating to the Arizona Animal Welfare League in Ian’s name.
Flower deliveries may be made to Family Burial and Cremation Center, 237 S. Sirrine, Mesa, AZ 85210 on Friday, September 1, until 7 p.m.
A memorial service for Ian Brown will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 2nd at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1111 E Knox Rd, Tempe, AZ 85284.
