A Life Remembered

Obituary

Gregory Leroy Thum

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Greg Thum, a devoted husband and father, a cherished brother, a loving son, a proud uncle, and a loyal friend. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave so freely and the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever.

He was a man who truly cared about others. He had a special way of making people feel seen and valued because he paid attention to the little things — the details that many people might overlook. He remembered the things that mattered to others, showed genuine interest in their lives, and made people feel important simply by taking the time to listen and care. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of so many.

Above all else, Greg loved his family. He was a devoted husband and a proud father who cherished every moment with the people he loved most. The memories they shared, both big and small, will forever be treasured and carried on by those who were blessed to know him.

He found joy in the simple things in life — spending time river fishing with his family, watching sprint car races, and cheering on the Tennessee Titans. These moments brought him happiness and created memories that will be remembered forever.

While our hearts are broken by his loss, we find comfort in knowing the impact Greg had on the lives around him. His love, generosity, and the way he cared for others will continue to live on through his family and friends.

Forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him every day. Including his wife Athena Thum, son Steve Thum, son Cory Thum, daughter Crystal Thum, mother Cindy, father Leroy, brothers, Daniel (Theresa) and Cody, sister Candice (Josh), and many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather as we honor the incredible man he was and the lasting impact that he made on all who knew him. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Monday August 3rd, 2026, at Gilbert Memorial Park Cemetery & Funeral Home. 2100 E Queen Creek Rd, Gilbert, AZ.
