A Life Remembered

Obituary

Fred Albert Michaels, 79, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on July 13, 2025, due to complications from West Nile Virus.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sherry, his daughter, Kristen Nicole Michaels, his daughter, Lindsay Allison Michaels Olivarez, his son-in-law, Jason Olivarez, his two granddaughters, Ellary and Emerson, his aunt, Jean Eaton Kukla, his nephews, Jacob and Jack Schram, and his nieces, Brenda and Liv Schram. Fred was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles and Yetta Michaels. He is celebrated by friends and extended family all over the country.

Fred was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1946, and graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Technology. Fred spent his career in the field of adult training and education before retiring in 2001. His favorite jobs, though, were partner to Sherry, Dad to Lindsay and Nikki, and Papa to Ellary and Emerson.

Fred was a traveler, an artist, a craftsman, and a friend. His humor was legendary, and he’d spare no effort for a prank or a gag. Anyone who met him knew him for his kindness, humor, excitement for a good meal, and appreciation for good conversation. It is often said of him that he was a good human, and he will be missed.

A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Gilbert Memorial Park. To remember Fred, a kidney transplant recipient from the Mayo Clinic in 2021, consider a donation to the Mayo Clinic and/or registering to be an Organ Donor through Donate Life America.
