About David W Scott
David W Scott was born February 8, 1938, and passed from this life, surrounded by his family, at the age of 87 on July 18, 2025.
He was born in Thomas, Idaho to Durwerd and Verna Scott, and worked hard on the family farm. He attended Snake River High School, and after graduation, chose to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to serve in the New England Mission.
He went on to college at San Jose State University in California and studied metallurgy, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. It was while he was at SJSU that he met his wife, Katheryn Kay Mowrey. They were married in the Oakland Temple on December 21, 1964. And together they were blessed with 5 children.
David had a long career in engineering at IBM in San Jose. And enjoyed church service, serving in many different callings throughout his life. After retirement and moving to Gilbert, AZ, David served alongside his wife as a temple worker in both the Mesa and Gilbert temples. When he wasn’t busy with work or service, he could often be found working on a car or tinkering with something else that needed repair.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Durwerd and Verna Scott. He is survived by his wife, Kay Scott; his children, James and Akemi Scott, Beth Scott, Rebecca and Greg Parrott, Margaret and Al Welle, and Sarah and Bryan Hunt; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Allen Scott, Ilene Scott, Stephen and Esther Scott, Sherrel and Jay Ellis, Miriam and Eric Ericson, Myron Scott, and Michael and Shirley Scott.
