About David Ray Moore
David Ray Moore September 29, 1962 – December 25, 2023 Chandler, Arizona
David Ray Moore, a loving husband, father, brother, and son, passed away on December 25, 2023, near his home in Chandler, Arizona.
Born in Niagra Falls, New York, David was the beloved son of Mary and Delbert Moore. He was the first in his family to graduate college and proudly attended Texas Tech University. David built a successful 40-year career in sales, notably with Avnet, where he formed lifelong friendships in every chapter of his life—professional, personal, and spiritual.
Outside of his career, David was a man of many passions. He could often be found tinkering with his beloved truck or cruising on his Harley, a source of both joy and occasional chagrin for his loving wife. His lifelong faith was an essential part of his life, as was his devotion and support for Broomfield United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Gilbert, Cornerstone, and Sun Valley Community Church. He attended service every Sunday and actively participated in various church groups where he developed and nurtured lifelong bonds with friends, grew with God, and formed a lifetime of memories which he treasured and shared constantly.
David’s adventurous spirit led him to hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim, explore the world’s wonders, and nearly set foot in all 50 states (North Dakota was last on the list!). However, his greatest achievement was his nearly 37-year marriage to his devoted wife and his role as a loving father to his two sons.
David was known for his warm heart and willingness to help those in need. He volunteered for numerous mission trips over the years, often accompanied by his sons. He was the first to lend a hand to friends and family in times of trouble, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Lauraie, and two sons, Zach and Tucker, David is survived by his brother, Mike, his father, Delbert, and an extensive (and well loved) mob of extended family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on January 20, 2024, at First United Methodist Church of Gilbert at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Canyon State Academy (20061 S Rittenhouse Rd, Queen Creek, AZ 85142), where David volunteered and mentored young men with challenging circumstances or to your favorite charity.
