Obituary

Brian passed away on January 2 nd closely surrounded by his family. He was survived as a beloved Brother, Husband, Father and Grandfather. He had many passions in life but nothing meant more to him than his family. He would always be quick to sacrifice his own happiness and time to make sure the family was okay and taken care of. He shared a deep everlasting love with his wife Cathy of 47 years. Both felt truly lucky to have one another in their lives and were inseparable at all times. He would always say his greatest accomplishment was “His Boys”, Brian and Sean. He loved and cherished any time spent with them and was immensely proud of the men they have become. Later in life he was given the gift of a Granddaughter. His “Madaroo” brought him so much laughter and happiness, they had a special loving bond. He was a great man who left a positive stain on everyone he encountered with his kindness and generosity. While his passing brings immense sadness, in his last days he said, “Don’t be sad for me, I lived a great life.” Please remember him with loving thoughts, cherished memories and a warm spot in your heart. He will be deeply missed.

Brian was laid to rest at Gilbert Memorial Park in a private family ceremony. You are welcome to visit and pay your respects at any time.

I don’t know if anyone will see this but Brian and Curt lived across the alley from us when we were kids. We had a lot of fun back then. Playing football in the yard, basketball in the driveways, running around with toy guns. Slot cars, blowing up plastic models. I spent some time at the large horse property they moved to down the street. It seems now it has been subdivided and several homes occupy the land. These are nice memories of growing up in a neighborhood where you knew people and had friends.

Cathy, My deepest condolences to you and your family. Brian and I would talk an hour sometimes of life stories since we had typical stories, and our ages were of the older generation. We’d laugh again & again about the continuous anomalies that would happen in our industry. So, I’d know who’s calling I always kept customer pictures in my iPhone, for Brian, it was mouth open, he was always talking. The picture would not copy here. But I’d like to say, that’s how my grandkids learn from me…I’m always talking too. My best wishes to you… Rick Balch from Old World Granite.
