About Bonnie Anne FitzSimons

Bonnie Anne FitzSimons, 67, passed away on December 15, 2021, in Gilbert, AZ, after a fierce three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bonnie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on December 31, 1953, but called Gilbert, Arizona, home for most of her life. She is survived by three daughters: Carrie Rauch (Bryan), Shannon Aston (Jordan), Bryce Saline (Nick), and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her partner, Thomas Kelly, and her three sisters: Donna Ives (Robert), Carol Klyver (John), and Virginia Bradley (Jay), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Preceding her in death were her infant son, James FitzSimons Foster, and her parents, James Morgan FitzSimons and Josephine (Parlo) FitzSimons.

Bonnie loved to spend time with Tom and was especially fond of their holidays together. While she had a passion for Southern food and destinations, she also enjoyed day trips around Arizona, specifically to Jerome and Bisbee, to hunt for antique treasures.

She gave many years of service to her community HOA, making decades-long friendships. Bonnie was a dedicated volunteer with Wreaths Across America and was proud of her winter trips to Arlington National Cemetery to lay wreaths at the graves of those who have served our country, including her father. She also loved reading, visiting her grandchildren, and caring for her beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback, Truman.

At 11:00 am on Saturday, January 29, 2022 , a memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1155 E Ray Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85296. Masks are respectfully required by the family.

While flowers are welcome, the family also welcomes memorial contributions to Friends for Life Animal Rescue (where Bonnie found Truman) and PanCan.org (a nonprofit funder of pancreatic cancer research). If you wish to send flowers, they may be sent ahead of time to Bryce Saline at 1538 S. Heritage Drive, Gilbert AZ 85296

I am so sorry I could not be there with you all today for Bonnie’s memorial service. She was a daughter to me even though she was only a daughter through my marriage to her Dad. I have many wonderful memories we have shared especially since Jim passed away in 2013. She came to Ky every spring and fall to visit me until her illness prevented it. I went to see her in Arizona twice during those years. She considered my Ky home and family her Ky home and family. My family from siblings to great nieces and nephews all loved her very much. We explored Ky and some places in Nashville Tn together. She was so excited to see everything. My sisters were called her sisters by her. She was especially close to two of my great nieces Mahala and Emily and we had a tea party with them when she and Bryce were here on one of her trips. My family and I grieve with you all. We know we will see Bonnie again when Jesus returns and are happy for her to be out of her pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you all today. If my health had permitted it, I would be with you. I love you all more than you know.

I have so many wonderful memories of Bonnie from childhood. I am glad we were able to get together when she came out to CT a couple years ago and catch up. She was as funny and warm as I remembered. I am saddened by the thought of a world without her.

I’m so sorry about Bonnie’s death. I know she is in heaven with her loved ones that have passed before her. Her Kentucky family loved her so much and wished so much she could have stayed in Kentucky with us. She was such a good influence in our lives and we all loved her.
