About Barbara Jo Holt

Barbara Holt, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on December 25, 1951, Barbara lived a life filled with a deep appreciation for learning, creativity, and history.

Barbara dedicated many years of her career to serving the public, working for Mountain Bell/AT&T and later with Maricopa County. In 2010, she achieved a significant personal milestone by earning a degree in Human Services, a testament to her commitment to understanding and helping others.

A lifelong learner, Barbara found particular joy in the works of Larry McMurtry. Her creative spirit flourished through her love of embroidery and crewel work, and she had an appreciation for travel, design and architecture, often visiting museums. She generously shared her time and passion by volunteering at the Sharlot Hall Museum and the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM). Barbara also had a deep affection for Americana and Folk music, and could often be found watching her favorite show, Jeopardy. Her passion for history, especially Arizona history, was evident in her extensive collection of Navajo jewelry.

Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer, and her adored grand-daughters, Mackenzie and Emma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Kathryn, her sister Carol, her brother Robert, and her son, Jeremy. Barbara’s warmth, dry wit, and unique spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
