A Life Remembered
Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of BARBARA ANN AMAZEEN of Mesa, Arizona on December 22, 2021, at the age of 84 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Bob Mitchell (Christine), Debbie Mitchell (Greg Canales), Scott Mitchell (Diane), LeighAnn Lenke (Randy); sister, Dixie Lee Kanagy, sister, Shirley Lou Weaver, brother, DeWight Dale Perkins (Judy), 12 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, numerous relatives and lots & lots of friends.
Barbara Ann, who some liked to call “The Queen”, or “Barbie Doll”, was born in Washington, DC on July 4, 1937, to her late parents DeWight & Helen Perkins.
In her early years she lived in South Dakota near Wind Cave National Park then on to Denver, Co. As a teen her family moved to Winslow, AZ where she began her legacy of hard work and social butterflying. After marrying her high school sweetheart, they settled in the Valley to raise their 4 children. She served in numerous roles in their church as a Sunday school teacher, camp counselor, mentor, and friend. She was also a girl scout leader and actively involved in her children’s lives all while working 2-3 jobs and entertaining guests at her frequent dinner parties. She later enjoyed living and working in Sacramento, CA and returned to Arizona in 2004 where she continued working and focusing on spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retiring from a lifetime of hard work, she was able to spend more time in her women’s Bible study groups, card groups and fun social groups. Her passion was learning! She most enjoyed researching anything pertaining to God’s Word, Jesus, health, nutrition, and food!! She was always the most positive person in the room and brought joy to everyone in her life. Her family and God’s Word meant everything to her, and her life revolved around them. She will be tremendously missed by all who had the honor and pleasure of knowing her.
