A Life Remembered
Obituary
Ruby Smith went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2023. She was born on June 3, 1954, in Warren, Pa., the daughter of the late Robert & Goldie Donaldson. Ruby graduated from Panama Central School in New York. She also graduated from a local business college in June 1973 and received her nursing degree from Jamestown Community College, in 1989. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Eaton Luswi and grandson, A.J. Bumpous. She is survived by her husband, Philip Smith, and children and their spouses, Andrew & Sarah Smith, Laurie & Ken Bumpous, and Timothy & Kayce Smith. Ruby has seven living grandchildren, Noah, Bauer, Miles, Ellianna, Adele, Weston, & Tripp. Ruby has three additional siblings, Roxanne Machac, Julie Stratton, & Bob Donaldson, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ruby was a wife for 50 years, a mother, and grandmother (AKA Nama and Grammy). She loved her Lord and Savior and was a prayer warrior for friends and family. She was caring, considerate, generous and cared deeply for those she cherished. Her favorite pastimes include traveling, reading, watching crime shows, following the weather, and playing card games. She was a Registered Nurse for over 26 years, helping those who were sick and then working in post-partum helping new moms with their new babies. Though she had a long battle with sickness, she ministered to those around her. We know her Heavenly Father embraced her whole and healed body into His loving arms. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on September 11, 2023, at Gilbert Memorial Park at 2100 E. Queen Creek Rd, Gilbert, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to be made to Samaritan’s Purse in memory of Ruby Smith.
